The Vets. That place that makes all animals up and down the country, and even across the world, shudder with horror and quake with fear!
A few days ago, I said about how a hamster breaking a nail is no big deal. More often than not, broken nails heal themselves and the hamsters are oblivious. Well I am well and truly eating my words here. If you have liked the Facebook page then you will be well aware of whats been going on with Caspers poor toe. (I told you that Facebook was a behind the scenes look at Hamster Diaries! You get the juicy gossip before the blog and exclusive photos too! Hah, I love my little sales pitch :P) Anyways, Caspers toes got very puffy and swollen and seeped a bit.
Turns out the broken nail that is common in rodents and usually sorts it self out has gotten a little infection! TYPICAL!! 😛
So this morning Casper was taken to the dreaded vets. As soon as he entered that waiting room there was a cat eyeing him up and drooling a bit and Casper froze up. I held him in my hand to make sure he was comforted and he didnt move a muscle for a good 20 minutes. No he wasn’t sleeping (for once) he had his eyes open; he was just seized up! All them scary smells of big dogs and hungry cats literally hung in the air and Cas was TERRIFIED!
We got called in quite quickly and the vet had a good look at his toe. “Ohhh yeah, looks like there’s a little infection going on there.” Casper, stayed so beautifully still the vet was impressed with his tameness! Noooo, he’s not scared sh*tless or anything, he’s just really obedient 😉 ahhaa!
So Casper has been given a course of antibiotics for his toe and I will have to take him back in a week to get him checked over again to make sure its healed properly.
Poor Casper 😦 Fingers and toes crossed he will make a speedy recovery 🙂
